The first suit of rune armour was worn by the god Guthix, after many months of failed blacksmithing attempts. For all his might, skill and wisdom, Guthix, it seemed, was remarkably poor at anything practical and that delighted him in ways he couldn't share. For Guthix had never really wanted to be a god. Though he took his responsibilities seriously, he had ascended in an act of vengeance, not by deliberate intent. In his transcendence, he had lost much of what made him happier in his mortal life. Failures, it seems, could spark as much joy as success, for one learns and grows from the experience and such growth defines who we are.

The rune medium helm is one of the first pieces he crafted. You can tell because it looks like a brick with delusions of grandeur.
