Journal

Long ago, there were people in Ashenfall. Not humans, not elves, nor anyone you might remember, but sentient beings with a life, a culture and a civilisation all of their own. No trace of them remains today.

Within a few years, the Kobalios were all but extinct. The remaining members of their number began to become twisted creatures; pale reflections of their once noble ancestors. Their limbs elongated and their mouths stretched wide, so that they might feast more and more upon the Wellspring’s power.

Soon, only a handful of the Kobalios remained, and they were easy pickings for the dragonkin when Rasthin and her allies arrived. The battle was swift and brutal, for the dragonkin know nothing of mercy. The slothful, greedy Kobalios had long forgotten the spells of their ancestors and therefore lacked any defence against the dragonkin’s weapons.

The last of the Kobalios were obliterated by Rasthin’s strange arcane cannons, and the legacy of their entire species died with them.

Now, all that remains are a handful of robes cut in the style of the Kobalios. A poor legacy for a once proud people.
