All that glitters is gold, is factually inaccurate but a fun song lyric. However, golden armour is most certainly glittering. Forged from gold bars, melted down and refined into plate armour, there are few who can deny the sheer audaciousness of an outfit like this.

Needless to say, the fate of Sir Leigh is entirely predictable. Even though his armour lacked the gemstones of his sovereign, it was still armour forged from solid gold. This meant that not only did it lack the defensive capabilities of sturdier metal, but it also meant that every opponent went straight for him.

He was torn to shreds, and his armour sold off in pieces.

His sacrifice, however, did save the king’s life. After witnessing the horrid destruction of his most loyal commander, the king decided that future battles would be waged in steel armour… very very thick steel armour… and, preferably, from very far away.
