Grieving Moonstaff

The grieving moonstaff is a power level 3 staff that can be crafted at a mystic forge. The recipe is unlocked after studying a mysterious crescent carving, which can be dropped by garou druids with a 2/100 drop chance. It can be ascended at the mystic forge using ascension cores.

Its special effect is -15% critical strike chance, which alongside its lower rune damage modifier at every power level, makes this the weakest staff to ascend.

For example, compare this to the draconic staff: That staff has +15% critical strike chance but has -15% durability to compensate. However, it has the same rune damage modifier as most other staffs at the same power level, while this staff has less, with no benefit to offset the reduced chance to crit.

The following text is transcribed from the Journal.

Lougrim was a moon deity, born to a cold world of soft silvers and silence. Her people lived lives of quiet contemplation, each moment spent wondering about the next. They were passive, soft spoken and sedentary, which drive Lougrim wild.

When a doorway to another world appeared and a grieving god wandered through it, Lougrim took the opportunity to run. To flee to another place, and live a life that she could endure.

History skips the next bit. Her closest allies have never learned what elevated her from her previous form to that of the goddess of the hunt, but whatever it is was profound enough to change her completely. She no longer resembled her silent kindred. She was quiet, yes, but in the way a tiger is moments before the kill. She is contemplative, true, but it was the stillness of a spider waiting for its prey.

When she found the garou, she knew she found her real kindred. They were violent, and deadly, and they yearned for the hunt. When she took her place as their goddess, she focused and refined them, creating hunters that were capable of felling almost any prey.

Yet still she kept the moon as her symbol, a reminder of her home and how far she has come since leaving it.

Now her priests bear the symbol, atop their staves and as the focus on their altars. They accept and revere Kuldra as their High Queen, yet they grieve the moon goddess that made them who they are today.
